Fifteen years ago, the volleyball world lost one of its brightest lights — Ranse Jones. Known for his dedication to growing the game and his passion for teaching anyone who wanted to learn, Ranse was more than a pro beach volleyball player; he was a mentor, a friend, and a force for community.
In 2010, Ranse suffered a severe aneurysm on the court. For six months, the volleyball community rallied around him, raising money and hope as his mother, Sherry Jones, fought for her son’s recovery. When Ranse passed on November 8, 2010, the hole he left in our hearts was immense — but so was the drive to continue his mission
